About Cap D'antibes

Antibes Juan-les-Pins is a french commune situated in the Alpes-Maritimes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The inhabitants of the town are called « les Antibois ».

The Cap d’Antibes is situated on a peninsula and is a small piece of paradise on the hill covered with old pine trees. On the top of the hill you can find a lighthouse that dominates the Cape.

Antibes lies on the Mediterranean coast only 205km away from Marseille, in 23km to the south-west from Nice, in 15km to the south-east from Grasse, and only in about 10km from Cannes. Antibes ranks second in population after Nice among the towns of the Alpes-Maritimes department.

The town is located on the north of the Cap d'Antibes facing the Bay des Anges and with Nice that can be seen on the east. To the west of the Cape there is a famous Juan-les-Pins facing the south and the Golf Juan.

The history of Juan-les-Pins is that one of Antibes which has been well-known since the early Antiquity.

It is the only french town of the Côte d'Azur to have preserved its ramparts along the coastline and reveals its exceptional heritage which bears witness to more than 2600 years of history.

It is a spectacular site where the sea is omnipresent. The largest pleasure boat and commercial port in Europe for its shipping tonnage and its advanced technology, Port Vauban received one of the first twelve « Blue Flags » awarded by the Environmental Education Foundation for European ports.

Another must of the Fernch Riviera is Marineland - the first animal exhibition Park in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Not only children but also adults will be impressed by the grace, force and rapidity of the dolphins, killer whales, sea-lions, sharks, elephant seals and many other extraordinary animals. Long being home to the rich and famous, and cinema stars in particularly during the famous Cannes' Film Festival, this wonderful site has become a holiday paradise for many people coming here from different corners of the world. The growth and development of the village begins in the middle of the 19-th century. Antibes attracts world's elite, aristocrats and wealthy people from Europe and especially from the United Kingdom and Russia who decide to built here their luxury properties.

Created in 1960 the first Jazz Festival in France takes place every year in July in Juan-les-Pins. Many famous jazz artists as: Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Charles Mingus and many others met their public here.

Take the picturesque coastal path that stretches from La Garoupe Lighthouse to the famous Villa Eden Roc. Following the coastline you will admire breathtaking views going along steep cliffs and lofty surrounding walls of the famous Château de La garoupe and Château de La Croe. This marvelous coastal walk offers you an exceptional panoramic view on the Lérins Islands on the west, and on the high picks of the National Park of Mercantour situated at the east. The Garoupe Lighthouse is overhanging the Bay of Juan-les-Pins.

Port de l’Olivette situated in the Abri de l'Olivette on the western coast is a picturesque little port for the traditional wooden fishing boats of the region.
